Every year for the past half-decade has been called “the year of mobile.” I think the hyperbole about mobile is finally winding down, but its importance is certainly not. This week we’re sharing some ways mobile has become ubiquitous in retail and eCommerce. You had better be thinking about how these issues affect your business.
“What does holiday shopping season fraud have to do with mobile?” you may ask. According to this Multichannel Merchant article, enough to make mobile #1 on the list of risks you should monitor. As more consumers becomes comfortable purchasing on mobile devices (good for merchants), they are more likely to overlook the usual security concerns (bad for merchants).
Once again, another article that isn’t about mobile includes a big section on mobile. This one, from Entrepreneur, discusses how you can utilize mobile as an efficiency, suggesting as an example that you list on eBay via their mobile app. When you start looking at how mobile can make your business run better internally (not just for your customers), you tap a whole other keg of potential.
You want stats about mobile? This article, complete with a great infographic, has plenty. I’m not a big fan of the m-Commerce moniker–you shouldn’t look at it as a silo from the rest of your commerce–but there’s some good stuff there.
